Parenting Is Hard When Big Feelings Take Over – In Children And In Us.

Big emotions, meltdowns, worry, and power struggles can leave even the most thoughtful parents feeling unsure and exhausted. You may be trying to stay calm, follow the advice, and do the “right” thing — yet still find yourself wondering why it feels so hard.

You’re not failing. Parenting doesn’t come with a clear map — especially when children are struggling, transitions feel big, or the strategies you’ve tried don’t seem to be helping.

These self-paced parenting programs are designed to help you understand what’s going on beneath behaviour, and respond in ways that support connection, regulation, and confidence — without needing to get it right all the time.

It’s support you can return to again and again whenever things get hard.

Learn how to shape positive brain building to cultivate the connections and behaviours that will help your child thrive. Everyday. Automatically.

At Confident Parenting, confidence doesn’t mean having all the answers or getting it right all the time.

It means understanding what’s going on beneath behaviour, responding intentionally when things feel hard, and knowing how to repair when moments don’t go to plan.

Through practical, brain-based programs, Confident Parenting supports children, families and communities through big feelings — helping confidence grow over time.

When your child worries a lot,
it can be hard to know what helps.

Many parents try reassuring their child again and again — only to find the worry keeps coming back.

I’ve created a short guide explaining why reassurance doesn’t stop anxiety and what helps instead.

Start Here: A Strong Foundation

Calm, Confident Parenting Through Big Feelings

This foundational program helps you understand children’s behaviour and emotions through a brain-based lens, while also making sense of your own responses as a parent.

It’s a supportive place to start if:

  • parenting feels overwhelming or confusing
  • big emotions and meltdowns are common
  • you’re second-guessing yourself
  • you want a framework that helps across many situations

Many parents find this program makes everything else easier to understand and apply.

A TOOLBOX OF PRACTICAL STRATEGIES

“There is so much conflicting information out there for parents that it can be really confusing (I know – I’ve read it all too!). I’ve spent the last 15 years as a Psychologist working with children and families in regional Australia and beyond. I’m also a mum of two beautiful children who remind me every day just what it takes to put theory into practice.

Parenting can be tough, but it doesn’t always have to be. I’ve taken what I’ve learned over 15 years and created two short, practical programs designed to help you feel more confident in raising a connected, capable and resilient kid.

Let me help you break down the science-y jargon to truly understand what your child is going through, and develop a toolbox of practical strategies you can use in all those everyday parenting moments.”

I’m Tanya — a child psychologist with over 15 years’ experience supporting children and families, and a mum of two raising my family in regional New South Wales.

Over the years, I’ve seen how confusing and overwhelming parenting advice can be — especially when it doesn’t match the child in front of you. These programs were created to break down the science, reduce the guesswork, and offer parents a calmer, more connected way forward.

This work isn’t about perfect parenting. It’s about understanding, repair, and responding intentionally — even on the hard days.
